Wrapping up!

We have been trying to take full advantage of all the fun activities in the area before we move back to Oregon in a few weeks. One adventure we love is the wild animal park. I like it a little better than the zoo because the animals are given lots more room to roam around and their habitats are created to be more true to life of where they lived before coming here. We had to put this in for our Nelson relatives: this gorilla is sitting "criss cross apple sauce". Jared got a good laugh.

There is a Mormon Battalion museum close to us also. It is so cool. It's a very interactive history of the Battalion and how faithful and blessed they were for being obedient. You can even do a little panning for gold if you like.

The Maritime museum. This museum consists of about seven water floating vessels that you can tour. Aircraft carrier, the deepest diving submarine, all steel boat, etc. Pretty impressive. Jared isn't quite mobile enough to take the tour but we HIGHLY recommend it to everyone else.

Wrapping up part 2.

A day out with mom and Eddie.First - Take a tour of sea port village and San Diego Bay. Nothing like the good sunny day to lounge on bait containers.
Second - Laugh hysterically at the tour guide.
Third - Love your accessible bus / boat. The tour starts on land and then turns into a boat so you can tour the bay the way a real tourist should.
Finally - Enjoy a great meal at the corvette diner. Mom and Eddie being mom and Eddie.
Good times.

Wrapping up continued!

Balboa Park + Botanical Garden + Humming Birds + Good Company = A very happy girl. We have this great park down town San Diego: Balboa Park. It is beautiful. There are museums, restaurants, concert halls, the zoo, etc. This day we went to the botanical garden. These pictures don't do justice to how incredible these plants were.

Don't let his smile fool you. He probably wouldn't be choosing this to do with his day, he really just likes the camera.
The orchids were phenomenal.
There is an awesome lilly pond out front with fish swimming around. Beautiful!

Wrapping up and again!

We have had some car troubles lately and so this is Jared's amused face as we sit again at the dealership. Because of our unique wheelchair van situation we can't go anywhere while it's being fixed so we're kind of stuck there. One day we sat there for 31/2 hours to have them tell us they don't dare take it apart. Sillies.
There is a new camera in the house. I decided it's time to be a better picture taker, so I researched and researched cameras and this is what we came up with. As you can tell we have a very excited man (just don't tell him how much it cost).
More messing around with the new camera. He doesn't love being on his belly, but we don't always like what's good for us right?
Gotta hang out with Shamu as much as possible. We love to go catch the shows. We go about once a month and it's not enough for me. Jared's favorite show is the pet show still.

San Diego Adventures Continued

Ok Ashley my cute cousin, this is for you. Sometimes I think it is silly to post about just us two boring adults (we don't have any babies to post about) but we have had lots of fun the last few weeks and had lots of visitors. So here goes. My dad was here for a few days and he loves nothing more than to go to the zoo, so that's what we did. The zoo here is awesome and takes hours to explore.
Jared is excavating some new elephant bones.
Aren't those the cutest zookeepers ever?
Jared looking amused by us while eating lunch. Whenever us girls get together (my mom, sister and I) I'm sure he is thinking "Get me outta here". We have too much fun together. We took a trip to Long Beach awhile back to see the sights and scope it out for a missionary friend of ours. The drive up the coast was incredible. If I wasn't so afraid of an earthquake dropping me into the ocean I would make a permanent resident of myself.
The skinniest house in the nation. Really! We looked this up online and it is a crack up. If you're interested in all the specs and stuff look it up, pretty interesting.

Well, we have been in San Diego for about six weeks now and it has been perfect. The weather is beautiful, we have family close by, our days are filled with whatever we want to do, and life is great. We have stayed pretty busy trying to take in all that this area has to offer. So far we have:
Spent the night in LA. This is us trying to get Jared in bed, he was pretty amused. Visited the beautiful Santa Barbara (about a 3 1/2 hour drive). Jared putting on his sweat shirt because it got a little chilly in SB after the sun went down.

Had a fun night with cousins in Rancho Santa Margarita. Thanks Johnsons for a great dinner, delicious frozen yogurt, a fun game of Monopoly, and for being so awesome with Jared.
Of course been to SeaWorld (a few times). Jared and Kyle enjoying the pet show (I think Jared enjoyed it a little more than Kyle did).
Traveled over 1000 miles to get here. All we brought was what would fit in the van. It was loaded to capacity.
